Certificates Awarded to International Students Enrolled under the Toyo University SDGs International Student Ambassador System, In April 2025

Toyo University one of the largest private universities in Japan with over 130 years of existence, held a ceremony at the Hakusan Campus to certify the SDGs International Student Ambassadors who enrolled in April 2025.The accreditation ceremony was attended by Vice President Toshiya Aramaki, Dean of the Faculty of International Studies Ryo Matsumaru, Dean of the Faculty of Literature Ichiro Numata, and Dean of the Faculty of Health and Sports Sciences Kyohei Saito. In addition to conferring the certificates, Vice President Aramaki encouraged the students to solve various social issues in society through their studies at the university, and told them that he hoped that they would enjoy their student life to the fullest and take on many challenges.


This system, which started in the 2023 academic year, recognizes privately financed international students who have the motivation and ability to contribute to global society in various ways to achieve the SDGs, and who are actively engaged in activities related to the SDGs and various activities that lead to globalization both inside and outside the university, as "Toyo University SDGs International Student Ambassadors" and provides support for tuition fees and housing.

In the 2023 academic year, three students will enroll in the Faculty of International Studies and the Faculty of Information Sciences as the first cohort (April enrollment), and two students will enroll in the Faculty of International Studies as the second cohort (September enrollment).


In the 2024 academic year, two students were enrolled in the Faculty of Letters and the Faculty of International Studies as the third cohort (April enrollment), and three students were enrolled in the Faculty of International Studies as the fourth cohort (September enrollment).


As a result of this enrollment, a total of 14 international student ambassadors will promote SDGs activities based on the plans they have set.

About Toyo University

Toyo University is one of the largest private universities in Japan. It was founded in 1887 as “TETSUGAKUKAN (School of Philosophy)” by the philosopher Dr. Enryo Inoue. It was reorganized in 1906 and has since been known as Toyo University.
