ICFAST 2024: Enhancing Collaboration between India and Japan, In the Fields of Science, Technology and Education.

International Conference on Frontier Areas of Science and Technology (ICFAST 2024), 14th India-Japan Science, Technology & Education Seminar is scheduled on September 6-7, 2024, at IIT Guwahati. Designated activity during  'Japan Month' to advance bilateral relations between India and Japan across multiple areas



The Indian JSPS Alumni Association (IJAA) organizes annual Science and Technology seminars, providing a platform for scientists from India and Japan to collaborate and discuss cutting-edge research. Sponsored by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), these seminars are held each year in India.


Event Overview

Researchers from diverse scientific fields, backgrounds, and employment sectors—including students, top scientists, Nobel Laureates, and bureaucrats—gather at these events. They exchange technical information, engage in broader impact programming, network with peers, and contribute to the advancement of science and technology. The seminars feature:

·       Scientific Poster Exhibits: Showcasing recent research and innovations.

·       Japanese University Booths: Highlighting academic and research opportunities.

·       Science and Technology Company Booths: Presenting industry advancements and fostering collaboration.

These components enhance the interactive nature of the seminars, promoting the development of partnerships between Indian and Japanese institutions and exploring research funding and fellowship opportunities.


Upcoming Seminar

In 2024, IJAA, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, will host the 14th India-Japan Science, Technology & Education Seminar, titled "International Conference on Frontier Areas of Science and Technology (ICFAST 2024)." The conference will take place on September 6-7, 2024, at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati.

IJAA and IIT Guwahati invite participants to join ICFAST 2024, a significant event, where attendees can engage in active discussions and contribute to the advancement of science and technology.

 

About: Indian JSPS Alumni Association (IJAA)

Launched in 2006, the Indian JSPS Alumni Association (IJAA) was JSPS's sixth officially established alumni association. It was the first alumni association to be established in the Asia-Pacific region and in a country without a JSPS overseas liaison office. IJAA has four branches located in the east, west, north and south of India. IJAA's current membership numbers around 400, among whom are many excellent researchers who are world leaders in their fields

 

About: Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS)

JSPS was founded in 1932 as a non-profit foundation through an endowment granted by Emperor Showa. JSPS became a quasi-governmental organization in 1967 under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Science, Sports and Culture (Monbusho), and since 2001 under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Monbukagakusho). Over the years, JSPS has worked continuously to develop and implement a far-reaching array of domestic and international scientific programs. On October 1, 2003, JSPS entered a new phase with its conversion to an independent administrative institution, as it will strive to optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of its management to improve the quality of the services it offers to individual researchers, universities, and research institutes. JSPS's operation is supported in large part by annual subsidies from the Japanese Government.
