PM Modi and PM Kishida at G-7 Summit, Affirm Strengthened India-Japan Partnership


PM Modi met with PM Kishida on the sidelines of the G-7 Summit in Apulia, he expressed gratitude to PM Kishida for his congratulatory wishes upon assuming office for the third consecutive term. 


During the interaction, PM Modi emphasized that India-Japan bilateral relations would remain a top priority during his new term. Recognizing that the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership has entered its 10th year, both leaders expressed satisfaction with the substantial progress achieved in this enduring relationship. They explored avenues to deepen cooperation across new and emerging sectors and reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing business-to-business (B2B) and people-to-people (P2P) ties.


India and Japan are actively collaborating on significant projects such as the transformative Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail, poised to revolutionize mobility in India. They also discussed Japan's targeted investment of 5 trillion yen in India between 2022 and 2027, and the India-Japan Industrial Competitiveness Partnership aimed at bolstering manufacturing collaboration. The bilateral meeting provided an opportunity to review progress on these strategic initiatives.


Looking ahead, both leaders eagerly anticipated continuing their discussions at the upcoming India-Japan annual summit, underscoring their shared commitment to further strengthen the comprehensive partnership between the two countries.
